Lightfall
The First Breaking · The Burning of Shadow
Solaris chose pride. He demanded that every truth be exposed, every secret be burned away, every veil be torn open in the name of illumination. He called it justice. He called it clarity. He called it the natural extension of his domain. He did not understand that some truths survive only in silence.
The attack came without warning. Solaris marched on the Shadow Quadrant, burning the veils, shattering shrines, forcing confessions from those who had committed no crime. The sky of the Shadow Realm turned amber and white. The shadow stars went out one by one. The veils that had protected sacred memory for ages curled into ash and rose toward a sun that no longer recognized its own purpose.
Calipso answered. Not with fire. Not with rage. With refusal. She placed herself between Solaris and the last sanctuary, and for the first time in the cosmos, a god struck another god. The blow was clean. The wound was not. It would never fully heal.
The Shadow-Light divide was born in this moment, and it would outlive every peace treaty that followed. The other gods did not intervene. Lunaris turned her tides away. Etherion ran the calculations and stayed silent. Vorak, who understood breaking better than anyone, watched without speaking. Arcturon held the laws but did not enforce them. Zeraphel began to prepare for the long withdrawal that would come.
From the ashes of the burning, the Shadow Order was founded. A scribal lineage devoted to preserving what Solaris had tried to destroy. They built no monuments. They sang no hymns. They simply gathered the fragments and wrote them down, in ink that did not catch fire, on stone that did not crack. The Order would outlast empires.
And the first mortals, who until this moment had only whispered the names of the gods in awe, began to whisper one name in gratitude. Calipso. The goddess who stood between them and the burning. The goddess who chose refusal over compliance. The goddess who carried the wound so that the cosmos would not have to.
Solaris returned to his Spire. He sat in silence for what mortals would later call an entire age. He did not speak of what he had done. He did not undo it. He could not. The Lightfall was not a single event. It was the beginning of a fracture that would deepen with every age that followed.
"He called it light. We called it blindness. Only Calipso called it what it was: grief pretending to be power."
